Position Overview:

This new Contract Support Worker (Float Position) is being implemented to assist with vacation and time off coverage for various programs over the summer months. Flexibility is necessary as scheduled hours per week will be subject to coverage requirements.

Location: Owen Sound/Port Elgin areas

Hours: The Contract Support Worker (Floater) will work up to 32 hours a week however scheduled hours per week will be flexible and subject to coverage requirements.

Hourly Wage: $24.28 an hour ($21.28 plus $3.00 wage enhancement)

Duration: Contract commencing as soon as possible – September 2022

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A formal knowledge of developmental disabilities. This knowledge would typically be acquired by obtaining a Developmental Services Worker diploma or 2-year related Community College diploma (Child and Youth Worker, Social Services or equivalent education) is preferred. Personal Support Worker certificate will be considered.
  • A minimum of 3 months experience in the provision of direct supports for people with developmental disabilities. Work experience and knowledge of health care procedures and mechanical equipment.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate and Non Violent Crisis Intervention certificate required within 30 days of hire.
  • A valid, Province of Ontario class “G2”driver’s license and use of personal vehicle.

Qualifications:

  • Personal resilience combined with a compassionate, insightful perspective fostering a steady commitment to the individuals’ emotional, behavioural and mental health profiles.
  • Knowledge and experience in assisting in the development and implementation of Behavioural Support Plans in co-operation with support networks.
  • Show initiative in planning, organizing and implementing activities that are meaningful to the person, utilizing community supports where possible.
  • Strong advocacy and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work and contribute in a team atmosphere
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing work conditions as shifts will be based on coverage requirements.
  • Must be able to adhere to IPAC (Infection Protection and Control) practices and wear Personal Protective Equipment when and where applicable.
